About this event
Dec 9, Tues {A} December Club Meeting. Meet & greet (treats provided) at 6:30 p.m.; business and program start at 7:00. Location: Danish American Center, 3030 West River Parkway, Minneapolis, MN 55406 (just south of the Lake Street bridge). Program: “Tree Trek - A Daughter’s Walk Through Grief.” Stephanie Mirocha is an author, artist, MN master naturalist, and nature blogger chronicling the natural phenomena that happens around us every day. She carries on the gift of natural observation that her father, Chet Mirocha, imbued in her. Chet was an active member of the North Star Ski Touring Club and a professor of plant pathology at the University of Minnesota. In his retirement he gave tours, called Tree Treks, of the beautiful trees in Como Park. One of the ways Stephanie honored Chet’s memory was by reviving these tours in the park. Her new book, published by Holy Cow! Press, is called Tree Trek: A Daughter’s Walk Through Grief. At our meeting Stephanie will talk about her book, the Como Park Tree Treks, and some of her memories of Chet’s outdoor adventures.
