May 1, Wed {WW} Hike Nerstrand Big Woods State Park. Meet at 10 a.m. at the Visitor Center at Nerstrand Big Woods State Park {south of Northfield}, 9700 170th Street East, Nerstrand, MN 55053. Start wildflower walk at 10:15 a.m. This is a great place to view spring wildflowers in Minnesota and one of the only places to view the dwarf trout lily. This lily is found in the wild in only three counties in Minnesota – and nowhere else in the world! Some of us may take on a longer hike after wildflower viewing, but we’ll all meet back at the picnic area for lunch. Bring water, snacks, lunch, layered clothing and waterproof hiking boots. State Park sticker is required -- $35 annual or $7 daily.
