Join us as we gently introduce you to the challenge of learning how to bike hills. Here’s a clue: start with a bicycle that has a wide range of climbing gears, then learn how to effectively use those gears (we’ll teach you). This will be an out-and-back ride totaling 12 miles. You may repeat all or part of it as many times as you want. The route includes one moderate long climb and descent and multiple rollers. A map will be provided and we will regroup as necessary. Meet at Square Lake Park, 15450 Square Lake Trail N in Stillwater, at 10:00 a.m. and begin riding at 10:15. The parking lot is at the top of the hill on the east side of Square Lake. There is a $7 daily parking fee (cash only), payable at the honor box. Park in the first lot near the honor box. A $30 annual park permit can be purchased at a Washington County license center. We’ll do another training ride on May 21 (same location and time) and possibly a third one out of Hudson, WI in June. This ride will be cancelled if it is raining at 9:00 a.m. FFI: Ann Rhea, 612-709-8992, acrhea@gmail.com; or Mel Peterson, 651-776-4330, alphamel52@comcast.net.
